Apple TV+ is turning up the global music mixer with K‑Popped, an eight‑episode competition series starring PSY (“Gangnam Style”) and Megan Thee Stallion. As reported on Bleeding Cool, the concept pairs Western hitmakers with elite K‑pop idols to reimagine pop classics in high‑energy musical battles. In each episode, a Western music icon revisits one of their major hits alongside a top-tier K‑pop group, performing to a live Seoul audience that determines the winning "K‑popped" version. Megan Thee Stallion performs her hit “Savage” and also serves as both star and executive producer, joining Lionel Richie, Miky Lee, and others in shaping the series behind the scenes, according to Apple’s official announcement.
Produced by CJ ENM—the Korean media powerhouse behind I Can See Your Voice and Parasite—and reality juggernaut Eureka Productions (The Mole, The Floor), K‑Popped is part of Apple TV’s continued global expansion. On July 31, Apple unveiled the full lineup of artists, and it’s a genre‑bending list fans immediately dubbed “fire.” Each pairing features a K‑pop act with a Western legend: ITZY will perform with the Spice Girls on a remix of “Spice Up Your Life,” while ATEEZ joins forces with J. Balvin and Kylie Minogue. Billlie is set to perform with both Megan Thee Stallion and Patti LaBelle, and JO1 will collaborate with Kesha and Eve. Other acts include STAYC with TLC and Boy George, Blackswan with Boyz II Men, Kep1er with Vanilla Ice and Taylor Dayne, and Kiss of Life with Ava Max and Jess Glynne. Outlets like Hypebae and Lainey Gossip praised the eclectic range of artists and decades represented.
Set to premiere on August 29, 2025, exclusively on Apple TV+, the show blends the precision of K‑pop production with the legacy and charisma of global Western icons. By fusing East and West on one stage, K‑Popped reimagines what pop performance can look like in a globalized music world. With PSY’s industry know-how, Megan’s star power, and a production team stacked with creative heavyweights like Lionel Richie and Miky Lee, the series feels more like a high-budget musical festival than a typical reality show.
More than a remix show, K‑Popped is a statement on where music is headed. It offers a nostalgic boost for longtime fans of Western hits while introducing a new generation to K‑pop's artistic flair. Whether you're tuning in for Megan’s “Savage” reimagined, ITZY channeling peak '90s Spice energy, or Patti LaBelle bringing the house down in Seoul, this may be one of the boldest and most collaborative series of the year. If pop’s future lies in creative collisions, K‑Poppedmight just be the blueprint.
