‘KPop Demon Hunters’ makes history with two Golden Globe wins

KPop Demon Hunters has been dominating since it dropped on Netflix last June. Still, it’s nice to see it also get some recognition and awards love. The beloved animated movie snagged Best Animated Feature at the 2026 Golden Globes this week, and EJAE, the absolute powerhouse behind the hit "Golden”, took home Best Original Song, accompanied by her songwriting team.

EJAE made history as the first Korean-American to take home that trophy. But it was what she said that really made an impression, telling the crowd how she spent ten years grinding to become a K-pop idol, only to be told her voice wasn't "good enough." Imagine being told you aren't enough, only to stand on that stage years later with a Golden Globe in your hand. “Rejection is redirection,” she said through tears. “Never give up. It’s never too late to shine like you were born to be.”

KPop Demon Hunters is officially Netflix’s most-watched film of all time, and "Golden" spent weeks parked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. It blends that high-energy K-pop aesthetic with a story that actually has heart. The Golden Globe win is further proof that cross-cultural stories should no longer be considered niche. They’re universal. Seeing the whole creative team on stage celebrating in front of the entire world was a massive win not only for their movie, but for representation.

With the Oscars right around the corner, the KPop Demon Hunters momentum isn't slowing down. If anything, the spotlight is just getting brighter.
