KPop Demon Hunters has captured streaming records, the zeitgeist, and the hearts of die-hard fans everywhere. What started as a stylish, demon-slaying girl-power fantasy became a global phenomenon, even sneaking onto the Billboard charts this year. But the animated musical also caught Netflix flatfooted, leaving the streamer running to catch up.
For years Netflix famously avoided diving into merchandising, but when KPop Demon Hunters exploded into a worldwide obsession, fans across the globe wanted dolls, collectibles, posters, anything HUNTR/X-related, except there wasn’t anything to buy. As one SlashFilm critic put it, Netflix had an “abysmal record” when it came to capitalizing on its own animated IP. Now that’s officially changed.
Netflix has teamed up with Mattel and Hasbro for a sweeping new merchandising partnership, one that even Netflix executives admit is a “first-of-its-kind collaboration.” According to Netflix CMO Marian Lee, “HUNTR/X showed us that a truly great trio is more than the sum of its parts. Netflix, Mattel and Hasbro joining forces on this collaboration means fans can finally get their hands on the dolls, games, and merch they’ve been not-so-subtly demanding on everysocial platform known to humanity.”
This isn’t some one-off licensing deal. Mattel will launch a full product line of KPop Demon Hunters fashion dolls, action figures, accessories, and collectibles in spring 2026, while Hasbro kicks things off earlier with a KPop Demon Hunters-themed Monopoly Deal game arriving January 1, 2026, according to Reuters.
As Business Standard reports, “Mattel will develop and market a global line of KPop Demon Hunters products starting in 2026, spanning dolls, action figures, accessories, collectibles and play-sets.” Netflix had previously reserved its toy and merch ambitions for live-action juggernauts like Stranger Things and Wednesday.
Netflix’s Lee summed it up best in the official press release:“KPop Demon Hunters unleashed a global fan frenzy—we’re talking dancing, singing, and more screaming than anyone was emotionally prepared for.”
That frenzy is paying off. What started off as just an animated musical about friendship and empowerment has become a billion-dollar blueprint for Netflix’s future. Welcome to the HUNTR/X era. Soon we’ll all have the dolls, games, and glow sticks to prove it.
